Ross is a senior associate in our Pensions and Employee Benefits Group, advising on pension schemes and employee incentive arrangements.
Ross trained at Slaughter and May in London, where he qualified in March 2020 before joining Arthur Cox in October 2021. Ross currently holds practising certificates in both Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Ross advises trustees and employers on a wide range of matters including the establishment, amendment and winding-up of occupational pension schemes and employee incentive arrangements alongside many day-to-day operational queries on topics such as liability management, scheme funding and compliance with legislative and Revenue requirements. Ross has also advised on the pensions aspects of a number of large corporate transactions in the UK and Irish markets.
Ross is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers in Ireland, the UK Association of Pension Lawyers and the Irish Association of Pension Funds.
Relevant Experience
- Drafting and amending the rules of occupational pension schemes including defined benefit, CARE (Career Average Revalued Earnings) and defined contribution arrangements
- Advising pension scheme trustees on managing and responding to investigations by regulators
- Advising employers and trustees on their duties towards their pension schemes in the course of takeover offers and corporate acquisitions or disposals
- Advising trustees on compliance with IORP II, including drafting and reviewing internal scheme policies and service provider contracts to meet legislative and Pensions Authority requirements
- Advising trustees of large, complex multi-section defined benefit schemes on multi-million euro pensioner buy-in exercises
- Advising on the negotiation and drafting of parent company guarantees and security packages for the benefit of pension schemes
- Drafting and negotiating data sharing agreements between employers and pension scheme trustees
- Advising employers on closing defined benefit schemes to future accrual
- Advising on the establishment of incentive arrangements for senior executives
- Advising employers on issues arising in the operation of employee incentive arrangements
