Frances is Of Counsel in our Restructuring and Insolvency Group and advises clients on all aspects of Irish insolvency and restructuring law and procedures and related transactions. 

Frances specialises in restructuring and insolvency law, through both formal and informal procedures.  She has extensive experience in both domestic and cross-border restructurings and insolvencies, and she has acted in a number of high profile examinerships, schemes of arrangement, liquidations, receiverships and debt workouts.  Frances advises all stakeholders, including companies, directors, financial institutions, creditors, debtors, investors, insolvency practitioners and regulators, in relation to their rights, obligations and options arising in the context of all forms of insolvency and restructuring proceedings, debt enforcement and related litigation.  She also advises on all aspects of personal insolvency and bankruptcy.

Frances is a founding member and co-chair of the Irish International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) in Ireland. 

Relevant Experience

  • Advising on Irish aspects of the restructuring of Asia Pulp and Paper Group through a Scheme of Arrangement under the Irish Companies Acts. 
  • Advising a secured creditor in relation to successfully petitioning the High Court to place Maximum Media Network Limited operating under various media brands including JOE.ie into examinership. 
  • Advising Mallinckrodt plc and its Irish subsidiaries in relation to Irish law aspects of its ongoing Chapter 11 proceedings. 
  • Advising various creditors of the Norwegian group companies with respect to all aspects of the Irish examinership process. 
  • Advising the Arcadia Group in relation to Irish aspects of the wind down of the group companies and the liquidation its Irish companies 
  • Advising a large US retailer on the liquidation of its Irish licensee and on its options to recover stock from Irish company. 
  • Advising the examiner of Shaw Education Group plc and Shaw Academy Limited on all aspects of the examinership and substantive issues relating to the restructuring of their subsidiaries. 
  • Advising We.Trade on winding down its operations and its proposed insolvency liquidation. 
  • Advising the Joint Liquidators of the Openhydro Group, an Irish manufacturer of wave energy turbines with operations in France, Scotland, Canada, Japan, Ireland and the Channel Islands.  
  • Advising the receivers on the receivership of the Roadbridge Group, a substantial international construction business with operations throughout EMEA.
