Declan is a senior associate in our Employment group.

Declan advises domestic and international employers on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law and industrial relations matters, including in relation to the employment law aspects of commercial transactions (including in relation to the transfer of undertakings), termination of employment, investigations and other HR processes, redundancies, employment equality and equal status complaints, corporate immigration and industrial relations disputes.  Declan has represented employers in litigation before the Workplace Relations Commission, the Labour Court, the Circuit Court, the High Court and the Court of Appeal, and has acted for other clients on a pro bono basis before the Workplace Relations Commission and the Labour Court.

Declan also spent just over a year as Group Employment Counsel for a multinational corporation with 13,000+ employees across 20+ countries, where he was responsible for all of the group’s employment law matters.

  • Advising in relation to retirement and workforce planning issues, including age discrimination and early retirement

  • Advising employers on internal protected disclosure procedures and processes
  • Providing domestic and international clients with guidance in relation to employment status
  • Providing Irish employment law support to international law firms on multi-jurisdictional employment projects
  • Advising clients in relation to corporate immigration queries and applications
